Urinetown: The Musical is a satirical comedy musical that premiered in 2001, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. The show also parodies musicals such as The Threepenny Opera, The Cradle Will Rock and Les Misérables, and the Broadway musical itself as a form.
The scene is a city in a parallel universe in which the majority of the citizens’ dreary low-class existence is compounded by a water shortage, which has lead to the institution of pay-per-use public bathrooms and the jailing of unsanitary offenders. Urine Good Company is the Evil Corporation that runs these bathrooms, and the CEO, Caldwell B. Cladwell’s daughter, Hope, falls in love with Bobby Strong, the leader of the long overdue revolution. Chaos and hilarity ensue!
Performances will be March 6, 7, 13, and 14th at 7pm with two matinee performances on March 8th and 15th at 2pm. All performances will be in the HS Auditorium.
